Documentary Family Photography in South London
A perfectly posed family portrait shows your smiling faces and colour coordinated outfits but I want you to have more than this. I want you to have photographs that are honest, candid and full of life. Photographs celebrating real family moments - the quiet ones, the loud ones, the messy ones and the crazy ones. Photographs that are an authentic and heartfelt reflection of who you are and how you actually live your life.
I take a documentary approach to family photography which means nothing’s staged or set up for the sake of a photograph, and there’s absolutely no posing, prompting or performing. No bribing your partner or the kids to play along with ‘natural’ shots that aren’t actually natural and no one has to sit still. You can dress as you normally would and just get on with your usual routines and activities.
You may not realise it but your everyday tells a thousand stories, revealing so much about your true personalities and relationships - it’s where the magic happens.
Ann alternative to conventional family photography and an experience like no other...
Need a couple of more traditional portraits for the grandparents? We can put aside some time for these if you wish, but in the most part I’ll be capturing you naturally. The result is a relaxed, stress-free session and a meaningful collection of photographs that will help you to re-live and re-tell your family story for generations to come.
“I just looked at all the pictures and got really emotional... Thank you so much for capturing what we do and our family routines so beautifully and making it all look so special. I love the pictures.”
Choose your family photography experience
When you look back on this season of your life, what are the details and moments you want to remember most? What will you miss when your children are all grown up? Which moments of the day tell your family story best? These are the these questions to keep front of mind when choosing which family photography experience would suit you best.
Half Day in the Life
Plenty of time for everyone to relax into a morning (or afternoon) and for me to capture some of your family routines and activities, I’ll spend around 4 hours with you.
Maybe it’s morning snuggles, pancakes and a woodland adventure? Or perhaps an afternoon of playing in the garden, making and eating a favourite meal together, followed by bath time and bedtime stories?
My most popular session length and highly recommended for families with multiple children.

Turn your photographs into family heirlooms
Digital photographs are wonderfully convenient but I’m also a big believer that photographs shouldn’t live on a hard drive! Along with the digital photographs included in your package, you can choose from a number of sustainable, hand-crafted products to professional photographers, including heirloom albums, premium frames and fine art prints.
How it all works
1. Booking and consultation
After you first get in touch, I'll contact you to arrange a chat, pencil in your preferred date, and send over the booking information. I kindly request a non-refundable booking deposit of £100.00 to secure the date of your session, with the balance due one week before your session date.
Closer to the date of your session, I’ll get in touch again to confirm the start time and where we will meet. We’ll discuss the flow of the session and talk about what you had in mind for our time together.
2. The Session
With a documentary session, there’s no need to do anything other than what you normally would. I absolutely mean that!
You don’t have to go on a cleaning frenzy or pick out any special outfits - the more normal your family and your surroundings appear, the more authentic your photos will be.
I’ll just be there spending time with you and your family, capturing the moments, the connections and the details that make up your family story. It’s all very relaxed.
3. Delivery
Around 3-4 weeks after your session, I'll contact you to arrange the best time for you to view your photographs. We can catch up virtually, or I can email a secure photo gallery directly to you. You’ll be able to download your photographs from your gallery as soon as you receive it.
If you decide to purchase printed photo products, I offer a free design service so you’ll be able to visualise how your photographs will look displayed as various products. I'll be with you every step of the way to help you choose the right products for your family.
