When I asked this beautiful Carshalton mum whether she’d like some maternity photos before her newborn photography shoot she was actually a little hesitant and this is something I completely understand. It’s easy to feel like we’re being a bit narcissistic, that our bodies are not ‘perfect’ enough, or that it would seem unfair to the children we already have. At the same time, I truly believe that if we can put all our fears and insecurities aside, pregnancy photos are a wonderful way to celebrate what our amazing bodies can do. They are also memories you can share with your children in years to come, showing them what it was like when they were in mummy’s tummy and how much you were looking forward to meeting them. I really enjoyed being pregnant but apart from a few phone snaps, I have no lovely images from my two pregnancies and I really, really regret it.
Thanks to a bit of encouragement from her husband, this gorgeous mum-to-be really embraced the moment and was even brave enough to reveal her beautiful bump - not a requirement of a maternity session with me but something you may want to at least consider. I think her reaction to a photo I sent shortly after the session shows that there were regrets - “Oh my goodness it’s lovely!! I love it!
I offer both in-home and outdoor maternity sessions and the best time is between 32 - 36 weeks. If you would like to book, do get in touch after your 20 week scan as my diary does tend to fill in advance. I also offer a discount when you book both a maternity and newborn session together.
