Good reasons to hire a professional photographer for your child's christening {Christening photographer, Surrey}

A child's christening day is a once in a life time event and I feel extremely honoured to have photographed so many beautiful christenings and baptisms over the past couple of years. I've met so many wonderful families and been so impressed with the effort parents have put into creating such memorable events. When the day finally arrives, parents really want to enjoy being with their family and loved ones, while at the same time have this important milestone documented beautifully in photographs. That's where a professional photographer comes in. Parents can relax and enjoy the occasion without having to worry about taking photographs themselves or relying on a friend or relative to photograph the day. And that's not the only benefit...

A keepsake for your child

As much as your child might enjoy being lavished with all that extra attention from family and friends it's unlikely they will have any recollection of the day itself! In years to come, photographs will tell the story of where the christening was held, who was there, what your child looked like and all those gorgeous details of the day that shouldn't be forgotten.

Beautiful images of the service itself

A professional photographer has the skill and camera kit required to take photographs in low-light situations which is especially important for ensuring the significant moments of the church ceremony are captured beautifully. More importantly, an experienced photographer will be able to anticipate those moments and capture them quietly and unobtrusively.

Michaela photographed our son’s christening and we could not be more delighted with the photos -they are beautiful. Our guests commented on how ‘unintrusive’ Michaela’s photography was on the day. We now have a collection of amazing photos...

Natural family portraits

Christenings are a wonderful opportunity to sneak in a few natural family portraits in a relaxed setting when you're all looking and feeling your best, quite often just after the service itself or during the after celebrations.

Spontaneous moments you may have missed

As well as offering more traditional family photographs, a professional photographer will dedicate themselves to observing every detail of the event and taking photographs of those special and more personal moments you may have missed. These are quite often the images that families treasure most as they capture real emotion and connection.

...I was so glad and grateful when (Michaela) was available to do a double baptism shoot for my boys, her photos are amazing and really captured the day along with the little moments you don’t get to see!

High quality images ready to print

With so many of us owning cameras and mobile phones these days it can be tempting to rely on family or guests to take photographs, hoping that at least some of them will be of a high enough quality for you to print. Hiring a professional means that you'll get properly composed, sharp images that can be printed at various sizes. Your images will also have been beautifully edited so that the colours, tones and contrast are consistent. This is so important when you go to display a series of photographs together in a collage or album for example.

We can not thank Michaela enough for the amazing photos she took on our son’s baptism. Michaela was so professional and on the day of the baptism she even felt like one of the guests. Many of our guests even commented at how lovely she was. We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a photographer. Thanks again Michaela, we are so, so pleased with all of the photos. We really couldn’t have asked for a better photographer.

Beautiful christening in Reigate {Christening photographer, Reigate}

Christenings are one of my favourite events to document and I was so honoured to have been invited to photograph the occasion for this gorgeous one year old and his family.

The man of the moment was so incredibly content throughout the service at beautiful Saint Mark's Church in Reigate, Surrey. Mum had told me beforehand that she was expecting a few complaints, especially when being handed over to the vicar, but there wasn't even a hint of upset from this happy little boy.

The ceremony was followed by a wonderfully relaxed gathering of friends and family at nearby Priory Farm, where although it was a too cold to venture outside, everyone enjoyed a warm fire and a delightful spread of refreshments, including a gorgeous home-made rainbow cake. It was lovely to witness little one's obvious delight with all the love and attention. And when he wasn't entertaining his guests, or tucking into the delicious food, this sunny little chap was quite happy to amuse himself with some much loved books and toys mum had brought along.

Congratulations to this lovely family and I hope they will cherish these precious memories for years to come. Here are a few of my favourites...

2017 {Newborn and family photographer, Surrey}

They say that when you find your passion you'll never work another day in your life and I've found this to be amazingly true since starting my business just over a year ago. I've met so many lovely people - both new clients and fellow photographers - attended some inspiring workshops, won four Bronze Awards in the The Guild of Photographers Image of the Month competition, as well as having my work featured several times on The Teabreak Tog community pages.

I'm really proud of my achievements this year and I thank each and every person who has liked or commented on my work or referred me to a friend. Your support means so much to me. I'm especially grateful to all the wonderful families I've had the joy of photographing throughout the year - it's been a huge honour to capture so many memories for you. It's impossible to share something from absolutely every session but here are just a few of my favourites from the year...

A beautiful Cheam christening {Christening and baptism photographer, Cheam}

I was so happy to be invited to photograph the christening of this gorgeous boy after having met his parents at another family celebration back in May. After a beautiful baptism ceremony at Saint Christopher's Catholic Church in Cheam, the celebrations continued with a gorgeous garden party on what turned out to be a lovely sunny afternoon. I had such a great time capturing the fun and festivities of the day. I even found a beautiful patch of light just behind the marquee to take some lovely portraits of the family and their guests. Here are a few favourites from the day...
